William's birthday

The morning of William's birthday, Jason and I sang Happy Birthday to William in his crib when he woke up, like we've done every year for Sophia.  Sophia loves it, but William wasn't so sure.  I think he just wanted his milk!  We had a fun morning at the Sandy Springs Festival, and then had a nice dinner out together.  When we got back, we let William open his present from Sophia and then sang Happy Birthday and ate some cake!

1 year old

William is one year old!  This past year flew by!  While I can't believe it's already been a year, it also seems like William has been a part of our family forever.  He has grown and changed so much, and over the past month he has become much more like a little person.  This past month he started to furniture cruise regularly.  He can make his way around the table, and can go from the coffee table to the sofa and back.  At the beginning of the month he finally started crawling on his knees some, and by halfway through the month he had abandoned his former worm crawl.  He copies everything we say or do, even if he doesn't know what it means.  He points to everything, and later in the month started to understand what pointing means.  He now points to food and says more to let us know what he wants to eat.  William loves to wave bye bye and knows how to whistle!  He says several words now: more, no no, that ("doh-ah"), quack, mmmm good, ball, palla ("pabba" -ball in italian), turtle, and acqua ("ka ka").  At the very end of the month, he started wanting to climb the stairs all the time, but doesn't understand how to get back down.  William likes most food, but not quite as much as his sister did.  He seems to favor meats and fruit and isn't a huge fan of many vegetables and sweets.

1 year stats:
Height: 29.75 in- 49%
Weight: 20 lbs 9 oz- 19%

Rosh Hashanah

Earlier this week, we had a nice Rosh Hashanah dinner with our aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Sophia helped say the blessings and enjoyed a delicious meal.  She had a blast playing with her cousins and didn't want to leave!  William played too, but got cranky so Daddy took him home early.  The next day I took Sophia to services.  She got dressed up for synagogue and then went into babysitting with some of her friends while Mommy, Nana, and Aunt Jenn went to the service.  L'Shana Tova!

Allowance

Sophia recently discovered her piggy bank, and has become fascinated with money and putting money in it.  We explained to her that you don't just get to have money for nothing, you have to earn it and decided to give her some chores so she could earn money on her own.  Sophia's chores each day are helping set the table, helping clear the table, bringing her backpack in after school, and cleaning up her toys.  We often have to remind her about her "job" but she is eager to help so she can get her allowance each week.  She looks forward to her Sunday pay day of .25!

Sophia's First Day of School

We are a few weeks behind on this, but Sophia had a great first day of school!  She is in the Teddy Bear class with most of the same friends from last year, and has the same teacher she had during camp.  She loves school and is so excited every day she gets to go.  This year they are starting show and tell once a week.  She likes to pick out an item from the category of the week and we talk about what she can tell her classmates.  We are excited about the start of the new year!
